Cover Bo

There’s a nice article about Bo and his health in the latest ‘issue’ of Body and More. This isn’t an actual magazine, but a collection of stories that newspapers, magazines, and trade publications can buy to insert into their own publications. So don’t look for this in your grocery aisle. It’s a pleasant little read anyway, and Bo sure looks good and healthy, doesn’t he?

He drank way too much and didn’t take care of his health. Add in the fact that Bice suffered from intussusception, an intestinal condition he’s had since birth that worsens under stress, and Bice was on a collision course. “I knew liquor wasn’t good for the body, but I liked it.”

This philanthropic, spiritual man is a far cry from the party boy who was once arrested for cocaine and marijuana possessions (charges were dropped) and who has been in and out of hospitals. His doctors have given him a clean bill of health, his career is once again going in the right direction and he’s a happy husband and dad. So if you ever see him eating pizza, let him enjoy it.

All I’m askin’ is for a little request

Bo’s music video for You Take Yourself With You is out and about on the internet, and now he’s asking his fans for a little help to get it on tv. So go on over to the video mailbox page on GAC and write in a request for YTYWY.

C’mon, do it. Bo’s counting on you.

Who says you can’t go home?

American Idol has been bringing idol alums out to the auditions for season 10, having them chat up the contestants and do some press for the show. Today’s San Francisco hopefuls are lucky enough to get Bo Bice. He’s been talking to the crowd, giving them pep talks, and leading the stadium in the obligatory group song (We Will Rock You – could have been a lot worse!). Listen to Bo, people – he knows.

Here’s an interview with a reporter who seems very happy to see him -

Bo looks like he’s really enjoying himself. I’m happy to see Idol giving some love back to a guy who brought so much to the show. But curse it! Now I’m going to have to watch the audition episodes next season.

ETA: One of the contestants took a video of Bo leading the crowd in We Will Rock You. You can’t see him, but you sure can hear him.

Knocked it out of the park, Bo!

You Take Yourself With Video premieres

Here’s a first look at the music video for Bo’s single, courtesy of The Boot.

Looks like it was shot by the same person who did the informal videos for 3 on Bo’s youtube channel - it’s going for the same grainy, old home movie vibe. It’s a little cliched, but still nicely done. I’m so pleased Bo and his label took the plunge, and if it gets some airplay on GAC and CMT it should give the single a nice boost.

What do you think? If you like it, go comment over at The Boot’s facebook page, and anywhere else you see it posted while you’re at it. The video can be embedded on blogs and websites, so spread the word.

ETA: The video is also up on AOL.

Old Orchard Bice

Bo played a radio station concert on the beach in Old Orchard Beach, Maine last night, and by all accounts it turned into a lovefest. Bo’s never played Maine before, and most everyone in the crowd was there to see Joe Nichols. But a few minutes of Bo and his guitar were enough to shake the rafters and get everyone on their feet. Judging by twitter and facebook, Bo made some new fans:

I have a whole new respect for Bo Bice! That man is extremely talented & a ham :)

@OfficialBoBice ~ OOB (Old Orchard Beach Maine) fell in love with you last night! Or at least, I did! ;0)

Joe nichols and bo bice are the shit.

He even got called back up for an encore, which isn’t something I’ve seen very often for an opening act. Here it is, in two parts -

I think he’d still be up there singing if they’d have let him. The rest of the show is up on youtube as well – check it out.

Oh say, you can see

Bo going to be singing the Star Spangled Banner at a couple sporting events this month, and there’s a good chance we’ll all get to tune in to one or both renditions.

Bo Bice is set to perform the National Anthem this Sunday, August 8th during the pre-race festivities of the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the year, the 2010 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips event at The Glen. ESPN is broadcasting the event during the day with introductions starting approximately Noon ET. (Green Flag at 1pm ET) [...]

Bo is also scheduled to perform the anthem during the Tennessee Titans opening season game Monday, August 23rd at Nashville’s LP Field stadium. The Titans square off against the Phoenix Cardinals for the first Monday Night Football game of regular NFL season play.

It’s not a certainty, but the anthem does make the broadcast sometimes on these shows. Fingers crossed.

It’s always a treat to hear Bo sing the SSB – he does it without frills or bombast, just a deep and simple passion that gives me goosebumps. I’m not sure which performance has moved me more – that first one on the 4th of July that was a revelation – who knew he could do that? The one at the town hall meeting that made me so proud and so sad? Or the 5 am airport version that he sang for his grandfather?

I doubt I’ll be as moved these next few times – auto racing and football may be all-American but they don’t usually make me tear up. Still. Knock ‘em out of the park, Bo.

People Magazine features Different Shades of Blue

People magazine is offering a free itunes download of a country music playlist that includes a Bo Bice song:

Download hot new music from some of our favorite artists!

Justin Moore – How I Got to Be This Way

Chuck Wicks – Hold That Thought

Bo Bice – Different Shades of Blue

Sunny Sweeney – From a Table Away

Mark Chesnutt – Lovin’ Her Was Easier

Miss Willie Brown – Freeland

Randy Montana – Ain’t Much Left of Lovin’ You

Blake Wise – Cornfields

Here’s how they describe DSOB:

The American Idol runner-up co-wrote this song after the death of his grandmother last summer. But “it’s not a melancholy song,” says Bice of the soul, country and rock-inspired tune, featured on his third album, 3. “It’s about life getting hard and working through the hardships.”

What a great chance for Bo to be heard by a lot of country fans who probably aren’t familiar with the new album. Good work Bo’s label/PR team!

I’ve listened to the whole list – Bo sounds really good and right at home in that mix. Go download it, and show People we think Bo’s music is hot too.
